In my final year of High School I changed from pure Mathematics to Mathematical Literacy. There I experienced the difference a great teacher has on the attitude and performance of a class. It is due to this teacher’s influence that I have developed a love for Mathematical Literacy.
I believe there is a great misconception about Mathematical Literacy as a subject. People, more often than not, say it is an easier form of pure Mathematics. That is not the case – in reality these subjects are very different from each other. Comparing these two subjects is equivalent to saying chickens and penguins are the same because both are birds.
I enjoy teaching all aspects of Mathematical Literacy. One of the things I like most about the subject, is that the content you learn can be directly implemented in the real world. I aim to make each and every lesson fun, interactive and practical.
