I am 22 and currently a student. I recently obtained my BSC in Molecular biology and Biotechnology and am therefore proficient (as well as passionate) about math, biology and science. Besides my academic background I also really enjoy creative activities such as painting in my leisure time. I believe creativity in balance with academics and logic can really help develop a more flexible mindset especially in fields such as science and biology. I consider myself to be pretty amiable and approachable.

Bioinformatics internship
I did a 6 month internship at the University of CapeTown, in the Plant Stress Lab. Working under Prof. Jill Farrant and Dr Astrid Radermacher, responsibilities include analysis of resurrection plant gene expression data and communicating findings.I've used R Studio to generate graphs (heatmaps, bar graphs, venn diagrams etc.) to visualise bioinformatic data and draw conclusions from any trends observed. In addition to this, I have used R for datawrangling and manipulation using packages such as tidyverse.

BSC Molecular Biology and Biotechnology - University of Stellenbosch
Major subjects included Genetics and Biochemistry. I also have done an internship in Bioinformatics (genetics meets IT) and have some experience in that field as well as plant Biotechnology.

Molecular and Cellular Biology
My undergraduate degree really solidified the foundational knowledge in this field, covering a wide range of subjects and topics. I am therefore well versed in many facets of Molecular Biology as it is a broad field. I also just really have a deep fascination and passion for all things biology and science and delve into further research on my own accord. I also understand that molecular biology can be difficult to understand because it cannot be seen so I have developed my own methods of visualising and understanding the concepts.
