Ruva-Rashe G - Tutor in Strathavon

My name is Ruva-Rashe (God's Flower - in my mother tongue) Gomo. I am a graduate from The University of Cape Town where I studied Finance and Accounting for my undergraduate degree and continued on to do Accounting for my postgraduate degree. During my time there I was a tutor for two years and that is where I discovered a passion for teaching especially by using real world scenarios and helping students understand fundamentals in order to understand where things fit into the real world as some subjects can be quite abstract. In terms of the languages that I speak, I went to an Afrikaans school from the 5th grade to the 8th. I learnt to speak the language with proficiency. I then went to Crawford College for High School from the 9th grade and that is where I learnt to speak French. All my siblings learnt french in school and have traveled to France. This is how I have managed to maintain my language skills. As a result of being in the finance industry. I am skilled in Math, Accounting and Business Studies.

BBUSSc, Finance with Accounting - The University of Cape Town

As part of my journey of becoming a Chartered Accountant, I studied finance and accounting at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. Studying at UCT was a great experience considering the diversity of students. In addition to that, there was always something to do and explore due to being a hotspot for tourists from around the world. It is rooted in cultural activities from the Jazz Festival to the Artscape theater that would host ballets and musical recitals.

PgDip, Accounting - The University of Cape Town

I ultimately would love to become a Chartered Accountant. This qualification opens up doors to if you would like to be in the finance and accounting industry. This diploma does require a lot of patience, hard work and passion as most of your time will be spent either in two hour lectures or two hour mandatory tutorial classes. In your spare time you will be reading and studying one of the four main disciplines: 1. Financial Reporting 2. Management Accounting 3. Corporate Governance and Auditing 4. Taxation and Estate Duty Overall, having opportunities within the working world is why I opted for this degree especially in a very dynamic world. Finance and accounting still run major corporate and the need to have analysts, financial accountants and asset managers is still necessary due their human judgement.
