I have a passion for helping YOU succeed. I have 7 years of school and university tutoring experience, with a special interest in making mathematics and the sciences accessible, understandable and less intimidating. Not to brag, but I acheived 8 distinctions in Matric, including for Advanced Placement Mathematics. I am a qualified Occupational Therapist busy working on my MSc(OT) at Wits. I currently I work at a psychiatric clinic helping teenagers and adults with coping with life while dealing with some form of mental health challenge. I also have experience working at a special needs school as their in-house OT. I have a passion for helping people which is why I chose to become an Occupational Therapist and tutor. I have a wide range of interests including triathlons, adventure sports, guitar and yoga (both as a yoga teacher and lifelong student). I also have a puppy named Lupin who is as naughty as he is cute! My passion for learning, teaching, extensive training and experience make for a good fit as a tutor. Let me help you succeed :)

Occupational Therapist
I work at a psychiatric clinic in Johannesburg. We service in-patients who require mental health intervention. We typically service clients with diagnoses such as Mood Disorders like Depression, Anxiety, and Bipolar Mood Disorder; Personality Disorders; Psychotic Disorders and Substance Abuse. We see adolescents, adults and geriatric clients. Part of my job involve running group therapy aimed at building life skills and healthy coping mechanisms. Another part of my job involves seeing individual clients for formal assessments regarding their functioning in home, social settings and work and/or school environments. A final part of my job involves treatment of individual clients who struggle with functioning in daily tasks due to mental illness. Prior to this, I worked in an integrated LSEN and Remedial School for teenagers aged 12 years and older who for some reason or other weren't coping in mainstream schooling. Prior to this, my first job involved running individual OT services at a general rural hospital to both in-patients and out-patients.

I completed my degree in Occupational Therapy at Wits University. This is a 4-year professional degree that included the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology and Psychiatry, among others.

I attended Northcliff High School from grade 8 until matric. I achieved 8 distinctions in matric, as well as full academic colours.
MSc(Occupational Therapy) - University of the Witwatersrand
I am currently completing my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. I am a part-time student as I am working full time.

Mathematics
I have tutored Maths to children from grade 1 to grade 12 over the past 7+ years. I therefore have a lot of experience tutoring a wide range of students with a wide range of difficulties. I am confident that I can help you with yours! :) I enjoy making seemingly complicated topics understandable and interesting. I promise that Maths is less overwhelming once we break it down into more manageable pieces. I achieved 88% for Mathematics and a further distinction in Advanced Placement Mathematics in matric. I received a distinction for Physical Sciences (both Physics and Chemistry) and studied a Bachelor of Science at Wits where I did Physics and Chemistry at a university level. Biology was my favourite subject in school and university. We get to learn about the foundations of life on this planet, which I find incredibly exciting. I received a distinction in Biology (Life Sciences) in Matric. I studied a Bachelor of Science at Wits where I did many Biology-related subjects including Human Anatomy (yes I dissected a human cadaver :P ), Physiology and the subject "Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences". As an Occupational Therapist, who has worked in a physical hospital, I have extensive knowledge of the human body.

English is a language that is beautiful and full of potential. I was raised by an English Professor and I have inherited his love and enthusiasm for the subject.
