When I was at school, I chose to do physics as one of my electives as a last minute decision even though I always thought I'd study art and design. After matric, I took 2 gaps year (au paring in London) and now I'm studying astrophysics and applied maths at UCT (first year). I still love art, but understanding mathematical concepts and the world around me is so satisfying and fulfilling. Needless to say, my preferred subjects to tutor are maths and physics. Other details about me, I live in Cape Town, went to Rustenburg Girls' High School.

Au pair
When I started working as an au pair in London, I was 18 years old, fresh out of school and looking after two little boys aged 2 and 4. I'd help them get ready for school and nursery in the morning and fetch them on their scooters or we'd walk back from school together. I'd help with any homework or extra-murals or play dates, feed them and then the parents took over for bed time. In September of my first year with the family, my host mum had another little boy! From then on she was home a lot more, so needed help with the baby and the two older boys. I learnt how to look after a newborn baby, and quite what parenting life is like - tough but incredibly rewarding. I ended up extending my stay with the family as I was very happy there and they wanted me to stay.

I am currently working part-time for Chameleon Custom from home. We are a business that does custom cabinetry and kitchens. My job is to do bookkeeping, manage social media and website and communicate with clients on details of the projects we're working on.

I completed matric in 2017 after doing Physics, French and Design as my electives. I am currently at UCT doing my undergrad in Astrophysics and Applied Mathematics.
