Hot Seat Tutor (UKZN)

I assist UKZN Statistics as their student tutor for first-year Stats students. Simply said, students come with their work-based problems and I work with them to help them understand better

Private tutor

I privately tutored Mathematics, Economics, and Statistics to High school and University students over the course of 3 years. I would meet with them at their school, or in the library, etc, and we would work through each of their questions in a very thorough yet simplified way.

Supplementary Instruction Leader (UKZN)

I worked as a Supplementary Instruction (SI) Leader in my third year. My position was to mentor first-year students through the challenges of Mathematics. My role was to provide a personal peer-to-peer environment so that learning can be facilitated, and any student, regardless of their academic standing, can benefit.

Education

NSC - Durban High School

I consider myself a hard-working, consistent, and creative individual. In Durban High School, I matriculated with an average of 86% and seven distinctions out of 7 subjects. I was awarded full colors of Academics in the same year as well as their Stephen Maholland Award for “The Most committed learner of 2015”. Although I struggled academically throughout my high school career, I managed to get myself into the top 7 matriculants of the 2015 class. I also discovered my passion for music in High school, and I was awarded half colors for my three-year involvement with the Music department as a singer-songwriter.

BSc (Applied Mathematics,Statistics, Economics) - UKZN

In 2016 I then registered for a BSc in Mathematics in UKZN, but I intended to use this qualification to become an Actuarial Scientist. I decided to combine my love for numbers with the addition of two other majors: Statistics and Economics. I was awarded an internal UKZN scholarship for my Matric performance, which helped partially pay for my school fees in that 1st year. I was also awarded a Golden Key Honours Society membership for obtaining an average within the top 15% of the School of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. The Golden Key membership has served me well as it has allowed me to be involved in many community-focused initiatives, such as 67 minutes of charity for Mandela-Day, Induction Ceremonies, etc. I then completed my BSc degree with a major in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics, maintain an average of 70% throughout the whole degree.
