Currently I am the owner of Klarheit. Klarheit specialize in using African drumming and its sound and rhythm components in a holistic approach to aid in calming anxiety and enhancing communication skills in children and adults. The program combines years of musical and therapeutic knowledge as gained by my experience to use the drum alongside other musical tools in order to also assist children and adults with various levels of learning challenges. I also receive referrals from other therapists with whom I work alongside with. Some days I go out to schools to teach the program on site. I also facilitate private master drumming lessons as well as private and group drumming therapy sessions at my studio working with ages 2 years up to adult. Alongside my program I also present workshops and training to those who would like to incorporate some of my services into their school or practice. I have also stated moving some of my services and lessons online for those who live far and who can not always come to my studio.

I studied Music at the University of Pretoria. I decided to major in two fields. The one field was Developmental Music Education and the other was Ethnomusicology in which I also learn to play the African Drum as a African Master Drummer. Additionally I also took Recorder up to my fourth year. I decided to do my Fourth year research paper on the therapeutic properties of the African drum on learners struggling with coordination, math and language. In my final year I also joined a one year music therapy module.
I have taught class music for many years to ages 2 years up to high school. I have also taught adults who wished to gain the enjoyment as well as therapeutic benefits of music. In these groups I have often had to teach children with learning disabilities alongside those without. Because of this experience I can assist parents who have learners that struggle with music and music assignments. I can also train teachers or aspiring teachers and assist them with planning out lessons for music and movement and how to use music as an integrated therapeutic tool. I can also assist and show them how to incorporate other subjects such as maths, social science and language into their music and classroom lessons to better assist learners with learning these subjects. Sessions can be done online as well as at my studio.

Music has the ability to access the entire brain and body and affects all aspects of development. It is also fun and enjoyable so the person receiving help through this medium feels comfortable while receiving therapy. Because of music’s widely applicable benefits I have had the privilege of working with many individuals having a range of difficulties and disabilities. Music crosses all barriers and disciplines. I have worked with children and adults suffering from ADHD, Autism, Language, Communication and Motor disabilities, Sensory Integration difficulties and Hearing Impairment. I continue to take on new clients with new forms of challenges thus expanding my knowledge base. I have also worked alongside Occupational and Speech therapists as well as Educational Psychologists and continue to work together with them in order to give the best to the clients seeking help. These collaborations also help me to expand my knowledge base. I especially try to find mediums and ways for these individuals to integrate into school and society. Sessions can be done online as well as at my studio.
