Hello, I have a PhD in Chemistry from UCT and many years tutoring and demonstrating experience, teaching the second and third year chemistry courses. During undergrad I also took Maths and Physics (first year), Medicinal Chemistry and Physiology courses. My current area of research involves vaccine development.

Working on the synthesis of a semi synthetic vaccine against Moraxella catarrhalis as well as making small drug molecules for the treatment of malaria.
Developing a conjugate vaccine against Group B Streptococcus.
First year: Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Biology, Ethics, Philosphy and Astronomy Second year: Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physiology Third year: Chemistry
Course work in organic, inorganic and physical chemistry and lab work in organic chemistry.
My PhD involved the chemical synthesis of monosaccharides found in Shigella sonnei, a bacteria that causes dysentery. These compounds were for the use as standards in the development of a glycoconjugate vaccine. The thesis also involved analysis of glycoconjugate samples using NMR spectroscopy.
I really love chemistry and enjoy teaching. I have an extensive knowledge in the area, from what is taught in first year, all the way to third year chemistry. I also enjoy teaching organic chemistry, which a lot of students find challenging.
