I am a language teacher who loves fun and exciting classes. The classes are fun because I use props such as puppets, music and games to engage students. Believe me, even adults love playing games in class because it doesn't feel like work when music and all sorts of other fun items are presented. Drama Teacher
I have always been involved in theater and movie production. Needless to say, I have a love for drama. I was a professional MC for twelve years and during that time I also presented a radio show at a community radio station. The experience I gained in the theater and movie industry as well as the training for MC work lead me to teaching drama temporarily at my son's new school until they got a teacher from school who could take over. The classes took place for an hour every week and we put on two productions that year. One was a comedy version of a modern-day Romeo and Juliet and the other was a Christmas production. These productions are available on YouTube. By the end of that year, a young teacher had joined the school who was keen to take over the drama classes. I helped her the following year just to find her feet until she was settled. Language Teacher
My son had a friend who struggled terribly with Afrikaans. I took it upon myself to help him before I ever did a language course. Once my course was completed, I started tutoring privately for an income. I've been doing it just short of a year now. I have had several offers to go and teach abroad but it's not practical since I still have a son at school. Students come to my home where a class is set up. If they are unable to attend, we do the lesson via Skype. I always start with vocabulary lessons since grammar is impossible to teach if students don't have a vocabulary to begin with. I had no formal teaching experience at this point besides raising my three children. This was an educational experience for me! I always knew that I was good with children so I opened the play center in order for my youngest child to learn and have company. It was wonderful! From there, the passion to teach young little minds just grew and eventually lead me to doing an extensive language course.
