I am a University of Cape Town Chemistry & Geology graduate with team spirit and a positive, can-do attitude. Highly organised with well-developed communication and time management skills. I firmly believe that in order to develop rapidly as a country, we need to improve access and quality of education. This will require more skilled teachers. Hence, I have dedicated my life to see this happen by enrolling for a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Tutoring in Mathematics and Physical Sciences has been part of who I am since my high school career.

There is a Mentorship program called 100up at UCT. We were mentoring and tutoring students from the townships in Cape Town. Our main focus was on preparing Grade 12 students for University life. This took place on Saturdays and during school holidays only.
There is a centre in Khayelitsha, Cape Town for students who are improving their Matric results. I used to run a Physics lesson from 13:00 to 14:30 followed by a Maths lesson from 15:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, I used to give them weekly tests to write, we would work on the solutions on Mondays before we move on to new topics.
Since I am a BSc holder, who's interested in teaching. This is a one-year-long certificate that will qualify me to teach Physical Sciences (Grade 10-12) and Natural Sciences ( Grade 8 and 9).
Being the Top Learner in my school in Physical Sciences, I made it my responsibility to help struggling students by explaining the concept to them individually and in small groups. I took most of them from level one to level 5&6 without having any formal teaching experience. When I got into UCT I continued helping in my High School and producing good results for learners. Now that I have a degree in Chemistry and did First-year Physics, my understanding of this subject is even broader. Being a PGCE student (Majoring in Physical Sciences) teaches me different methods of approaching and explaining the subject.
