I am a second year Bachelors of Arts student at University of Pretoria. I took a gap year last year and worked in a boarding school in Australia as a house mother/tutor. I received an ‘A’ for English home language and History for my matric finals and a high ‘B’ for Biology and Music History. I received distinctions for English and History in my first year of university. I am outgoing and confident and eager to help others.

I tutored two high school boys in Biology and English for the 2020 academic year.
I worked the afternoons and evenings at an Exclusive Books and worked sales mainly. In addition to sales, I shelved returned books, was in charge of interbranch transfers, receiving books and cashing up with my supervisor at the end of shift.
I was a waitress at a pop-up restaurant while I was on holiday. I began work at 10h00am every day and had to help set up the condiments and collect my cash float. I mainly worked double shifts, 10h00am-22h00pm. I took orders and served food for my customers as well as working behind the bar when there weren't enough barmen.
I was responsible for ensuring the girls were ready and left the boarding house on time every weekday. I assisted with homework every evening for both the senior girls and boys. Every second weekend, I was responsible for Sunday nights which was usually fell under the responsibility of the senior house mother. I made sure the returning boarders signed in, correctly on Sunday nights and was the only supervisor present on Sunday nights. Each weekday afternoon, I attended staff meetings where my input and feedback was required. Overall, my day ran from 6h30-22h30/23h00.
History was one of my favourite subjects during my high school career and I would often ‘teach’ my friends the information we needed to know. I received a high ‘A’ in my matric for history and am going to be studying history in university. I achieved a distinction for my first year in university and was one of the top achievers for my year.

Biology was the lesson I most looked forward to during my high school career. I was absolutely fascinated by the material we studied and have a passion for the subject. I would love to help ignite this passion in others. I received a high ‘B’ in my matric year.
