Hello there! My name is teacher Yolanda, I am 32 years old and from Cape Town, South Africa. My teaching journey started back in 2015 when I started working as a private tutor for students with Special Educational Needs. I worked in similar roles until 2017, when I was appointed in a management position in the private education sector. I have a BA Degree in Humanities from the University of Stellenbosch (2012), a BA Honours Degree in Psychology (2013), and I am very soon to graduate with my PGCE in Foundation Phase (March 2021). I have also received training in Special Needs tutoring and facilitation with an Educational Psychologist. In my free time, I enjoy doing outdoor activities with my family such as camping, hiking and going to the beach. I love to teach children because I get to share in their excitement when they learn something new or master a new skill. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message. I can't wait to meet you and get to know you.

Assisted two students with homework as well as school projects and test and exam preparation (Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6).
I assisted a student with ADHD to cope in a mainstream schooling environment. I also assisted with test and exam preparation (Grade 7).
Home-based tutor for young children on the Autism Spectrum. The sessions mostly employed play-based methods aimed at assisting children to reach their learning and developmental goals.
I believe that learning a new language should be a fun and engaging experience; the end goal to use the language to communicate. I am a TEFL certified teacher, I also have a BA degree in Humanities as well as my PGCE in Foundation Phase. My online classes are tailored to the needs and goals of each student. I teach English through the use of songs, stories, and fun activities. Building confidence is my number one goal, so I give the student as many opportunities to talk as possible while providing lots of praise and encouragement!
Yolanda teaches English as a foreign Language at Primary School level(s)
I am fully bilingual; with the accents to match! My mom is a native Afrikaans speaker and my dad a native English speaker, so I've been learning to master both languages from a very early age. My lessons are geared toward the consolidation of the concepts learned during the student's formal class time. Having worked in remedial settings, I can also help students to "catch-up" if that is what is required. Contact me for more information, I look forward to learning more about your needs and discussing your Individualised Learning Plan.
