Believe me, if there's anyone who understands the struggle of being a student - it's me. But just because it's not easy doesn't mean it can't be done - and done well at that! I am here to help draw lines where only dots are seen, and to help students nourish the potential i know each one has.

The Golden Future Project is an initiative at UCT that partners current UCT students with students from slightly disadvantaged school as their academic mentors and support. The pandemic saw this initiative take on a different shape as UCT student tutors were assigned 2-4 kids to oversee their academic progress. I was assigned 3 students to support in Mathematics, Maths Literacy, English, Business Studies, Economics and Accounting. I met with each student - digitally (in light of social distancing) - twice a week. The first meeting would address any immediate challenges they are facing academically and the second I sought to expand their understanding and challenge them further on concepts they have already covered. This method saw an improvement ranging from 8% - 21% in all the subjects I provided support in.
I am currently studying a BSc in Finance and Accounting at the University of Cape Town. I obtained my NSC certificate at Redhill High School having received 3 distinctions in English, Mathematics and Business Studies.

Having received a distinction for English in my matric year and having an avid passion for reading, allows me to believe that I know what it takes not only to improve but to excel in English. My brief tutoring experience at the beginning of the year in English saw improvements to all 5 of students I helped.
