As an individual we are all unique. My uniqueness lies in my abilities and talents I have obtained and developed over the past years. I believe in excellence because I strive at not being the best there is but being one of the best at the job that needs to be completed. No job undertaken is necessarily easy thus challenges do arise and that is what I should like to undertake. I have gained extensive practical as well as intellectual experience in the food industry with close to 7 years’ experience in the Food Safety and Quality Assurance sector. My key skills developed are planning, formulation, organization and control of all Food Safety matters in the factory. I had the chief responsibility of maintaining the optimum level of Food Safety and efficiency according to Food Safety legislative principles, namely, FSSC 22000, GFSI, SANS 10049:2012, SANS 10330:2007 as well as integrating management systems ISO9001, ISO 45001, ISO31000, ISO 55001, and ISO 14001. I’ve developed basic microbiological techniques in the laboratory with more than 1 years’ experience and gained more than 4 years’ experience in product development. My Master’s degree has also given me insight and provided me with the potential to nurture my passion for research and development. Doing this study was a true asset to developing my research capabilities. My majors are Food Science and Biochemistry. Hard work and dedication has ensured my commitment to research and development in the food manufacturing industry. I possess strong moral principles. I am honest, helpful, polite, show initiative; I’m enthusiastic, tactful and have integrity. One of my mottos in life is, “Self-trust is the first key to success,” and with having trust in myself and maintaining positivity, assists me in making the correct decisions and proves to be a worthy method to make a success of my and others life.

The development, maintenance and improvement of an IQMS; Ensure that Prerequisites are implemented and maintained; Supervise quality standards and enforce quality-control programs by appointment, management and providing motivation to a Food Safety Team; Conduct in-house training across all departments in the company structure; To assist with New Product Development which included shelf life studies, factory trials, recipe reformulations, sensory evaluation, ingredient and labelling declarations and necessary specification drafting and updates; Drafting and updating of raw material and final product specifications and certificate of analysis; Cost management.

As part of the strategy, I was selected to implement and manage a system of mandatory compliance to publically available international standards. As individuals we find ourselves facing a life of complex systems and a demanding society with many problems. Solutions to these problems are science-based.   • Microbiology

    Microbiology was one of my key passions during my undergraduate studies at university and also formed an important part of my postgraduate studies. I was fully involved in the isolation and enumeration of lipophylic bacteria that had a positive effect on the degradation of fats, oils and greases on grain distillery wastewater. Microorganisms has a vital role in the food industry and its cultivation thereof to obtain functional foods are of importance too.
