Kimberley M - Tutor in Hoedspruit

I am currently working as a Game Ranger at Phinda Private Game Reserve. I graduated in 2009 with 6 distinctions and then got a BSc in Civil Engineering from UCT, after working in the industry for three years I quit my job and decided to follow my passion. I tutored throughout my university career and enjoyed it immensely. I find it incredibly rewarding to see students reaching their potential and the confidence that it gives them. I will be available to do Zoom tutoring during the lockdown period.

Site Engineer

I worked on various sites around South Africa on projects involving the replacement of water reticulation lines. I also managed a number of teams on the sites, ensuring that they were meeting deadlines while still adhering to quality and safety practices.

BSc Eng (Civil Engineering) - UCT

Whilst completing my degree I tutored maths and science part time to high school students.

Subjects taught
  • Mathematics

I have excelled at maths throughout my life and achieved distinctions in this subject throughout my school career. While it has always come easily to me there was a brief period where my marks dropped drastically after having a bad teacher who made the subject very confusing and daunting. I had to work incredibly hard over that period and managed to get my marks and confidence back up with assistance from another teacher. Thus I have a lot of patience with students who can’t grasp the concepts straight away and will think of creative ways to explain them. I truly believe it’s an enjoyable subject and love to see it becoming more and more enjoyable to students as their confidence grows.
