I am currently completing my PhD in Sociology at the University of Cape Town. During my time at UCT, I have tutored various undergraduate Sociology courses and lectured on qualitative research methodology at Honours and Masters level. I know that Sociology courses can be tough! I enjoy helping students make sense of their course materials and excel in their studies. I am passionate about qualitative research and would also be happy to assist students, at undergraduate or postgraduate level, in their research methodology coursework or in the design of their research projects.

Tutoring responsibilities included: • Consulting lecturers on weekly course content and learning outcomes to ensure that tutorials and practical sessions aligned with these, • Planning and facilitating weekly tutorials to assist students in their coursework, • Engaging students on their learning experiences and communicating this feedback to faculty and administrators, • Providing student support in assignment and exam preparation and, Undergraduate course tutored: Social Justice and Inequality (2014, 2016 & 2017), Introduction to Sociology (2016), Individual and Society (2016), Social Research (2016 & 2017) Postgraduate courses tutored: Survey Data Analysis (2015).

Co-lecturer: In-depth Interviewing and Analysis (2018 & 2019): Master’s level course within the Sociology department that explored qualitative research design, interviewing and thematic and narrative analysis. Key responsibilities included: • Collaborating with my co-lecturer to develop seminar topics, select course readings and design student assessments and grading criteria, • Co-facilitating seminars to guide students through theory and practical exercises, • Responding to course queries and grading student assignments, Lecturer: Qualitative Social Research Methods (2018) Honours’ level course within the Sociology Department that focused on the basic conceptual, methodological and technical aspects of qualitative research design, interviewing, analysis and reporting. Key responsibilities included: • Course design: developing seminar topics, selecting course readings, designing student assessments and grading criteria, • Planning seminars and teaching course content, • Hosting student consultations, responding to queries and grading assignments
