I have 40 years of teaching experience from pre-school to university level. My highest qualification in teaching is a B.Ed. Honors Degree at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (2005). I also have a degree in Remedial Teaching (1995). The main subject areas that I taught include English, Afrikaans and Business Studies. My teaching experience includes the following: Mainstream education (Pre-school – Grade 12: 1980 – 2000), Tertiary education (Post school level: 2001- 2017). From 2018 to present, I am teaching Grade 12 learners from a private company. Being in education for such an extended period of time, I have a vast amount of knowledge and teaching experience. I was twice awarded with “Prestige Awards” by the Department of Education in South Africa for excellent teaching practices. I am using the TPR-method (Total Physical Response) in the classroom to enhance my teaching strategies.

I am still employed as an Evaluator at SACE (South African Council for Educators). Evaluators assisted in the planning and execution of the CPTD system that encourages teachers to develop themselves professionally. We review providers applications for approval and endorsement. We screen external providers of professional development activities and approve those that meet SACE’s quality criteria. We evaluate activities proposed by external providers and endorse those that meet SACE’s criteria of relevance, effectiveness and quality. We assign the PD (Personal Development) points per activity. We conduct site visits to different schools to verify information provided by the provider and we provide reports to SACE on the assigned duties.

Supervisor for Outcomes Based Education - ACE: School of Tomorrow, Durban

From 1999 to 2002, I was a teacher at an ACE (Accelerated Christian Education) School. This curriculum is outcomes based and originated in the United States in 1970. This program covered the critical outcomes and minimum standards of the National Curriculum Statement as prescribed by the Department of Education in South Africa. From January 2003 to December 2006, I was head of an ACE Teachers Training College. Both of these experiences gave me a very good understanding of outcomes based education.

    During my teaching career I taught mostly all subject areas using English as the language of instruction. Although I am a native Afrikaans speaking person, my knowledge and pronunciation of English is excellent. I was educated in an English school (Renish, Stellenbosch). I was a supervisor and lecturer for the ACE-schools (School of Tomorrow) that also has a home school division and the language of instruction was English.

    To me, teaching is not a job but a labor of love. I have teaching knowledge and experience that stretches over a period of 40 years. I am still an active teacher and currently teach grade 12 students for a private company. I am also a qualified remedial teacher. This knowledge assists me in helping students to cope with learning impairments. My teaching experiences stretch from pre-school to university level. I love to interact with students and use the total physical response method in my classes.

    My highest qualification in education is a B.Ed. Honours degree in Education Management. Business Studies is one of the subject areas included in this degree. I also obtained a Certificate in Public Management from Regenyses Business School, Johannesburg. For the last 3 years I am lecturing Grade 12 students in Business Studies, English and Afrikaans towards obtaining the National Senior Certificate from the Department of Education in the Western Cape.
