My name is Tracy and I am a wife, mother, sister , best friend and a qualified teacher. I enjoy an active lifestyle and am a keen tennis player. I have been on an educational journey, teaching English and other subjects for the past 30 years. Now, I know that that sounds like a v e r y, v e r y long time, but my journey has taken me places and allowed me to meet and facilitate learning for some of the most inspirational students - adults, teenagers and children. These learners, many from different countries in the world, have motivated, encouraged and taught me so many life lessons. I have thoroughly enjoyed my teaching experience and I am passionate about making a difference by making learning fun and interactive. While I know that many of my learners will forget what I said, I hope that they won't forget who I am because teaching, to me, is more than just a vocation - it is a making of connections, of sharing experiences and learning together. I look forward to meeting and learning more about you.

I taught a combined class of Grade 6 and Grade 7 learners and was responsible for teaching all the academic subjects. I later taught Grade 5 and become HOD for the senior primary. In this role I was responsible for the implementing the academic programme for Grade 4 - 7 and leading and mentoring a team of teachers.
As head of sport I co-ordinated the co-curricular programme and organised sporting events for the Secondary School. I coached various sporting codes and met with, and appointed sport coaches and drew up budgets. I also taught English, Afrikaans, HSS, Sport Science and PE to learners inGrade 7,8,9 and was involved in the implementation of the TEFL programme to non English speaking learners.
I consult to a private school as the academic support teacher. I meet with the teachers, medical professionals, parents and the learners and then design, implement and present individualised learning programmes to learners who experience barriers to learning. I teach all the school subjects to learners from Grade 4 to Grade 9. I assist learners who are not English speaking who need to learn both English and Afrikaans. A large part of my day also involves networking with various teachers so as to assist the teacher and the individual learner in the classroom.
I have always wanted to be a teacher and if I had to do it all again then I would follow the same career path. I have found my career invigorating and stimulating and I have loved walking this life long journey with so many of my past students.
Studying to be a special needs educator was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I really enjoy the challenge of working with the learner in order to find ways to involve them in their learning and make learning fun and meaningful. Once they are invested in, and enjoying the learning process, experience it is so much easier to learn as they are intrinsically motivated.
Mathematics is all about confidence and the more you practice the better you get. It is so important that you establish a solid foundation in the Primary School so that you are able to build on that foundation when you get to the Secondary School. Your teacher needs to be able to explain concepts to you and scaffold your learning so as to build on your strengths. He or she needs to allow you opportunities to build your confidence and help you to enjoy Mathematics. I have been teaching Mathematics up to Grade 9 level for over 30 years and I therefore know the syllabus and I also have a good idea of the sections where the learners might struggle.

This is my favourite subject. I teach History in a fun, interactive manner by making it a story that we explore together. The characters come to life as we venture into their lives and the events that shape them

Afrikaans is much easier than you think it is. Once you know the basics and have increased your vocabulary , you will be will be amazed at how quickly you grasp this language and how your results will improve.

As a remedial teacher I have a unique interest in learners that learn differently. I enjoy working with the learner to find a learning style suited to their personality and learning profile. In my many years of experience, I have taught many learners who needed a different approach and who have become really successful business people. At this present moment, I consult to a school as a remedial consultant.

I am excited to see learners succeed and become self- reliant and self -motivated. One of the biggest "gifts" that I can give my learners is to show them that they can do anything that they set their minds on. I, as a remedial teacher with 30 years experience, have seen that children, especially those that have challenges with reading and writing, just need someone to believe in them.
