Nicolas N - Tutor in Zamokhuhe

Hello everyone! I am a native English speaker who qualified in June 2019 with a TEFL Level 5 qualification and would love to help you on your journey in learning and/or improving your English. As it was one of my favourite subjects in high school where I have experience privately tutoring struggling classmates, I make it my goal to make sure you have as much educational fun in each lesson. I focus on students needs, am patient, more than happy to explain any parts you may not be so sure of and always try my best to keep each lesson both interesting and informative. I can help from basic vocabulary, to conversational practice to exam preparation. I like to think that we are all able to learn from each other in each lesson, so let's make them unforgettable! If there are any questions, feel free to contact me! looking forward to meeting you :D

Experience
2016-08-17 - 2017-04-10
Intern: Field Scoring

I was recruited as on-call scoring personnel to attend various sporting events (ranging from inter-school rivalries over weekends to one-off club orchestrated matches) and digitally record the events of each match, from virtual scoring to commentating for online viewers all throughout.

2018-03-15 - 2020-03-31
Intern: Packaging and Admin

I briefly and occasionally spent time as an intern at Collier Tool & Die working on product assembly, putting together various plumbing and drainage products, packaging them and completing orders to be shipped out. Outside of the warehouse, I completed administration work (primarily archive organization and disposal and client management) and invoices.

2019-06-20 - 2019-11-02
Intern: Events Assistant and Customer Service

I have experience working as an intern for South-African based company ALLXS (specializing in cashless point of sale systems). As an intern, I was responsible in the office as admin and customer support – managing the client database online (account creation, corrections, allocation) as well as data capturing (inventory/stock taking, virtual warehouse management). Along with this, I worked out on the field at events from equipment setup and maintenance to staff training, acting support/management, cashier assistance and technical support. Having first-hand experience with typical event-goers at events such as Wildsfees and Stellenbosch Wine Festival, I have learned how to remain calm and act quickly on my feet in times of sudden pressure (technical issues, uncompliant customers) without compromising the event or the company.

Education
2020-02-03 - 2022-12-06
BSc Biotechnology - Durban University of Technology

I am currently an undergraduate student studying for a Bachelors degree in Biotechnology, expected to complete by the end of 2022.

Subjects taught
  • English as a foreign Language

I have participated in numerous competitions and quizzes as well as maintained a position as one of the highest achieving pupils for English consistently throughout high school. I really enjoy the subject and languages as a whole and I believe it is something that can be made entertaining and easy for anyone! Since I focus my needs on the learner, I am able to provide direct feedback to them regarding whatever they have any issues with, help practice directly (conversationally) and prepare them for any level of English they expect to encounter (tests, business, academic, etc).
