Charmaine K - Tutor in Observatory

I am a part time Masters student at Wits university. I have a BSc in Microbiolgy and Genetics and and hounours degree in Medical Microbiolgy. I am doing a Masters in Bioethics and Health Law and currently work at the Wits Ethics department. I am a mum of two, a girl (4) and a boy (7). I enjoy studying and teaching. I spent 9 years in the food industry as a food microbiologist and have thus learnt alot about microbiolgy and other science subjects. I love travelling and I grew up in Durban. I spent my undergraduate years at the university of Kwazulu Natal.

I also coordinate the monthly meetings for the differnt committees. I do the agenda, type out the minutes and send out invites. I follow up on previous applications and cehck corrections to applications if there are any. I liaise with the chairperson in terms of approvals and I then process the certificates.

I did some research on bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. I looked at patient records from differnt hospital wards. I also looked at different antibiotics that are used to treat urinary tract infections and their effectiveness.

    I am a qualified microbiologist and spent most of time working at unilever running the microbiology lab. I have very good listening and communication skills and enjoy challenges. I find always work hard to achieve my goals hence I am currently doing my fifth qualification. I have three degress; Microbiology & Genetics, Biotechnology and Medical Microbiology. I also have a post graduate diploma in Marketing & Supply chain. I am now doing my final year in my Master of Science in Medicine, specialising in Bioethics and Health Law. Learning is fun and I hope to show that to my prospective students.
