Ndumiso S - Tutor in Stellenbosch Central

I am PhD candidate in Polymer Science at Stellenbosch University. I have been tutoring/teaching Chemistry since 2016. It is at this point where the zeal, confidence and a fondness for academic tutoring was born. The most important lesson I have learnt is if one puts effort and work having pride in what they are doing and sustain character in the process, winning takes care of its self. I really enjoy engaging with students to empower and enrich their experiences with various science subjects. Chemistry has always been my focal point but also have background knowledge in biology and mathematics.

MSc in Polymer Science - Stellenbosch University South Africa

During my ourse of study I showed excellent work ethic, which kept me motivated throughout the study. The title of the project was "Oxidative depolymerization of lignin into value added chemicals".I showed great ability to tackle a very complex problem to meet the set objectives. I demonstrated the ability to compare my work against literature, to produce excellent and novel results, and a technology that is patentable. I also demonstrated great understanding of my work by proposing a mechanism for the technology which was supported by the structural information of the compounds formed.

Subjects taught
  • Chemistry

With Chemsitry being my area of expertise since my BSc (Honors ) degree days, I have tutored in this field and harnessed a lot of experience that has also allowed me to grow in application of the subject with some of my research inputs easily accessible at the Stellenbosch University library and InnoVUS Stellenbosch. I hope to utilize the opportunity to tutor to express my passion and sharing of knowledge with those I will engage with.
