Hi, My name is Taahirah. I am a 23 year old Qualified Speech Therapist and Audiologist. I acquired my BA Speech and Hearing Therapy degree at the University of the Witwatersrand. While studying, I was involved in numerous study groups assisting students in an informal tutoring environment. Outside of university I have worked in numerous educational settings particularly in preschools as well as tutored high school students in Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences as well as English. I have a strong passion for children especially assisting them with their academic careers. I particularly enjoy helping those who struggle with the conventional way of learning. I aim to assist and teach students in their preferred method of learning for effective understanding, and in this way improve their academic performance.

A Degree in Speech Pathology entails completing courses which include the study of speech, and language development, speech physiology and perception, the nature of language, speech disorders in children and adults, social and cultural aspects of communication disorders, and the clinical processes involved in identification, prevention, and management of those disorders. A Degree in Audiology entails completing courses on normal hearing, speech acoustics, hearing disorders in children and adults, social, cultural aspects of communication disorders and the clinical processes involved in the identification, prevention and management of those disorders. Students are also required to undertake a course in South African Sign Language.
